‘Thank you’ to Lucy for drawing my attention to this site. It is particularly relevant at the moment given our discussion of reading ages earlier this week and it is something that my LTC group are also looking at as part of our differentiation project. This site allows you to paste in text from anywhere of enter a link from a website. It will then ‘read’ it for you and inform you of the reading age of the text. It also breaks down the text into number of sentences, words, complex words etc as an analysis.
This will prove very useful for ERIC (Everyone Reading In Class) and for differentiating texts/sources of information for use during the lesson. You could use our online seating plan to differentiate students by reading age then group them according to reading age and this will allow you to plan your resources for different areas of the classroom.
