This example of great practice came from the last LTC meeting where Kirsty fed back on how she has found using lollipop sticks effectively in questioning her students:
‘The sticks are designed to make the section of pupils appear random whilst allowing you to differentiate them according to the students’ ability levels and any additional needs.
I created a simple code to indicate if a student is:
I have found it to be very successful with KS3, especially Year 8s who request them when we are doing questioning, presentations or giving feedback.
My Y11 group are still getting used to it as we have only used them for a few lessons, but it does ensure that the quiet students do not slip through without contributing.’
