At Abbot Beyne School, we take great pride in our work to ensure that our teaching is of the highest quality. Our mantra ‘Everyone a learner, everyone learning’ reflects the work we do with our teachers to continually develop their practice.

We have received recognition for our work in a number of ways. In October 2018 we were given the award of Apple Distinguished School in recognition of our work in using the iPad to enhance and transform learning opportunities throughout the curriculum. In  2018 we became an SSAT Leading Edge School in recognition of our strong results. We were subsequently undertook a rigorous external evaluation process, the outcome of which was the school being accredited for ‘transforming practice in variety of teaching approaches’. The SSAT announced that ‘this means that your school met the highest standards of the Framework for Exceptional Education and that your work in this area is amongst the most effective practice nationally.’

This blog has been created to share and expand on the amazing teaching that is taking place on a daily basis at Abbot Beyne School. The blog will collect the very best of what we do – from examples of resources or activities that have worked well in lessons to reflections on the great work that our Professional Development Communities (PDCs) undertake.

A new set of articles will be published regularly. The articles will be tagged with key words, so over time it will remain easy to find what you are looking for – whether it is ‘iPads’ or ‘literacy’ for example.

Please feel free to add a comment to any of the blog entries that are useful or relevant to you – whether you are a member of our staff or otherwise.
